Hello. You may recall that due to covid and other considerations it was decided to postpone the memorial service for Marlene. It was originally intended that it be held around Easter time of 2022. But since then new developments and circumstances have compelled a different course of action. Instead it has been decided that my brother Bill and I would donate $500.00 worth of kids' toys in her name to Sharing and Caring hands in Minneapolis (See photo). We know that this would have made our mother very happy and proud. She spent many decades donating her time and money in addition to many thoughtful items she made herself, including dolls and winter attire for children. We can't think of a better way to memorialize and honor her life than to give charitably in her name. Everything my mother did like that she did out of love. And I truly believe that if others knew how charitable she had been they would be humbled by the example. An angel is someone who helps others, on that I think most would agree. And that's what she did, she always helped and cared for others whenever she could. As her son I can vouch for that personally. For over a thousand times in my life my mother was there for me, consoling me, guiding me, teaching me, comforting me, healing me, and literally saving me. And when she died in Sept of last year she gifted me a home, a car, and the financial means to take care of them. And when I think of all that my mother has done for me I am astounded that it took her death for me to realize that she truly was an angel on earth. And no matter how my story ends I can say with complete confidence that my mother will always be the main character in my story, the guiding star in my night sky, and the hero in my book, as the one person who loved me unconditionally--through thick and thin, hell or high water--until the day she died.
Your best friend and your loving son for eternity, Jerry.

Marlene expressly stated in writing that she did not want a funeral on her behalf. In her health Care Directive, however, she did state she would like a memorial mass held for herself at St Raphael's in Crystal. As her health care agent and her executor, I would like to offer the suggestion of a memorial held next Easter time at the above named church. I realize that's quite some time off, but due to COVID and other considerations I feel that's best. However, I am open to suggestions by any close family who feel they have a helpful suggestion or good idea that will guarantee that Marlene, mom, will be honored in the respectful and worthy manner she deserves. Once a firm date is settled upon everyone will be notified, one way or another. Okay?
Thank you so much for all the kind support everyone is giving. I'm amazed and relieved at how everyone knows how to be at this difficult time. Thank you, Jerry.
