I met Joan through Trinity Prep when Sarah was in high school. We had so many great times in book clubs, lunches, various projects, hiking and field trips. Joan was always so poised and reserved, but she had a wonderful sense of humor and adventure. One of my favorite memories was of one of Mary Ann’s strange accounts of gerbils that had us laughing so hard tears were rolling down our cheeks as we tried to fathom the logistics of the story. Joan and Bob moved up near Dartmouth, and David and I moved in the middle of nowhere between Panama City and Dothan Alabama. What a contrast in lifestyles! Each time they visited we had the forestry department here doing “prescribed” burns, so smoke and charred vegetation were the norm. One of their visits involved climbing into David’s pickup truck to go to the meat processor in Panama City to retrieve our venison. As we drove up, the loading deck was filled with dead deer and hogs. Not a pretty sight! Joan and Bob were always great sports. Joan was most proud of her wonderful family and how their children grew into successful, happy young adults. We will miss her and cherish her memory. David and Cindi
I will never forget being 18 years old and alone in New York City for the first time on business for Fila Sports. My auntie and dad had given me her contact information and I called her. Joan with Jon and Andy took me to the most lovely lunch. I will never forget how perfectly elegant she was and how welcomed she made me feel. How wonderfully accomplished and definetly was a lady I wanted to know and model myself after. She left a lasting impression. Wish I had more time with her. Thoughts and prayers to all of you....
Dear Joan was a dear friend to so many of us during our years at Trinity Prep in Winter Park, FL. I will never forget the first day I met her when she offered to volunteer with the Parent Group. She became a vital and integral part of the group and the school, but more than that a very dear friend to so many of us. We had great memories made with our birthday lunches, auction, escapades, book club and on and on. Living away all these years, she has remained in my heart, and will always have a place. Our thoughts and prayers to all the Wilkinsons and to all whom Joan touched so sweetly.
I was blessed to be able to take care of Joan. Her smile and laughter would always light up my day. I've loved looking at all the pictures, and it makes me wish I had known her longer. I am so thankful for the time I did have with her though! Bob, Andrew, Jon and Sarah I am so sorry for your loss.
