Light a Candle
Joan Rehe was born on the last day of 1934, the only child of Estonian immigrants. She grew up on Long Island and attended Middlebury College in Vermont. After college, she moved to New York City, and began a career as a copy editor, most notably working for American Heritage and Reader's Digest.
She married Robert Wilkinson in 1966, and was the mother to three children - Andy, Jonathan and Sarah. The family lived in Briarcliff Manor, NY, for approximately 20 years before moving to Winter Springs FL in 1990. Joan and Bob retired to Eastman NH in 2000.
Joan excelled academically, and developed a lifelong love of reading at an early age. She was also a higly accomplished figure skater, and led figure skating exhibitions at Middlebury's annual winter carnival.
She was also a very devoted mother and wife who was active in numerous community and school events. Joan passed away on January 11, 2013, after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
