I want to express my sympathy to Jacob's family. As one of his high school teachers and coach(briefly), I felt fortunate to be able to get to know him. I had coached two of his sisters in cross country, and was introduced to Jacob when he was in 8th grade. We lifted weights together at the high school after school and he impressed me with his quick wit and work habits in the weight room. I was able to convince him to try cross country to help him get in shape foe wrestling and enjoyed running with him during workouts. It turned out that CC was not in his top 50 of favorite sports, but we kept in contact throughout high school.
I will remember his laugh, honest observations and sense of fairness. He also had a sense of adventure, playfulness, and a voice for others who struggled. He will be missed by so many of us who were fortunate to spend time with him.
My deepest condolences to Mark(co worker at HACM) and his family and friends. This is the most difficult type of death for those of us left living to understand. I have personally dealt with this type of tragedy as well and know the questions always left behind. Prayers to you and your family Mark as you go through the difficult days ahead.
Jake, I was always happy to see you outside the Senate chambers and in the halls of the statehouse. I wish we had been able to share one of our usual laughs yesterday while the Senate was in session. I wish we could have shared many of those. I'll remember you and your time with us. Thank you for that and rest peaceful.
Being close friends with my two brothers, Jacob was part of our family for many years. He was funny, witty, and loyal. My family is so sad to hear of his passing and trust that he is at peace.
Thinking of Jacob's family. My favorite Jacob quote when discussing who we would pick to join us in a bar fight (while at school at Edgewood URED). "Oh yeah, I would pick crazy over strong anyday in a bar fight." Always there in defense of the people around him because of fierce loyalty (and willingness to join any argument:-)), witty, smart and funny. RIP Jacob
I will miss Jacob's humor (always funny, not always appropriate!) and the great stories he told about his boys. He was a strong leader and our Soldiers will miss him. God bless and God's speed brother Jacob. My prayers are for his family - especially those three little boys.
