Memorial Biography

 

First Lieutenant Jacob Matthew Clark, 33, Madison, WI died Monday, September 16, 2013. Jacob was born on July 10, 1980, to Raphael and JoAnne (DeGroot) Clark at St. Mary's Hospital in Green Bay. He graduated from Pulaski High School in 1998 and received a Bachelor of Science Degree from University of Wisconsin–La Crosse in 2002, majoring in Political Science and Public Administration.

Jacob loved people, making them laugh with his sarcasm, quick wit, intelligent banter, historical citations and movie quotes. He also enjoyed collecting and selling antiques, ice fishing and spending time up north hunting in Florence. First and foremost, Jacob loved being a dad to his three boys. Beyond that, he was a dedicated servant to his state and our country. He enjoyed going to work each day at the State Capitol, serving as Deputy Sergeant at Arms in the Wisconsin State Senate Sergeant at Arms office. Jacob also proudly served in the United States Army Reserves. He recently joined the 364th PA detachment out of Fort Snelling, MN, after serving several years in the 428th Engineer Company out of Wausau, WI. He completed two deployments, in Afghanistan (2004-2005) and Iraq (2008) receiving the Iraqi Campaign Metal, the Global War on Terrorism Medal and the AFRM W/M two times.

Jacob is survived by his three sons, Mark Steven (6), Cyrus Ibrahim (4), and Louis Vincent (2), and their mother, Hollie Clark, Oregon, WI; his mother, JoAnne S. Clark, Pleasant Prairie, WI; two brothers, Raphael (Erin) Clark, Sobieski; and Mark (Linda) Clark, Milwaukee; five sisters, Rebecca (Michael) Clark-Bash, Grayslake, IL; Pam (Roy) Garringer, Pleasant Prairie, WI; Mary (Kevin) Eklund, Danville, CA; Helen (Octavio) Suero, Hoffman Estates, IL; and Rochelle (Tad) Isaacson, Appleton. Also surviving are his many nieces and nephews, Jeremiah, Garrett and Garrison Clark; Jon Bash; David, Hannah, Elisabeth, Josiah, Faith and Joyful Garringer; Nicole and Lindsay Eklund; Christina and Anna Clark; Alejandro and Daniel Suero; and Max Isaacson. In addition, he had many good friends who made him laugh and extended his life by many years; these include Poulin and all the guys from the 428th, Jim "LT/the Chuck" Harvilchuk, Tim Ryerson, Chris Brusky and the Brusky family and Todd Berzowski; as well as Ted Blazel and several current and former staff members at the Sergeant at Arms office. Many, many others touched Jacob's life and he theirs.

Jacob was preceded in death by his son, Lazarus Phoenix Clark; sister, Tracy Marie Clark; nrother, Casmir Copernicus Clark; nephew, Benjamin Clark; and father, Raphael R. Clark.

In remembrance of Jacob's life, friends and family are invited to gather at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., Green Bay, from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Visitation will also be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at SS. Edward and Isidore Catholic Church, 3667 Flintville Rd., Green Bay. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the church. A meal/gathering will follow at the home of Mrs. JoAnne Clark, 2305 Westline Road, Green Bay. Jacob will be buried at a later date, with military honors in the cemetery in Mountain, WI per his request.
