Memorial Biography

John was born in Madison Wisconsin to John and Jan Meyer. John and his sisters, Sharon and Margie, grew up moving often as children since their dad was in the Air Force. They enjoyed exploring each new place, meeting new friends, and playing outside all the time. This may have influenced John's continued interest in being in the great outdoors. He enjoyed hiking, biking, snow & water skiing, boating, camping, and riding the scariest roller coasters in the amusement parks. He also ran in some marathons, keeping in good shape. John definitely lived his life to the fullest!!! John graduated from Snider High School in Fort Wayne, IN and received bachelors in Geosciences and an associates in Chemistry, at Indiana Univ / Purdue Univ Fort Wayne. Which he used to create a beautiful life with interesting jobs focusing on helping the environment. Most of his jobs had an interest in water quality, testing soil or water samples. He has worked for the City of Mesa as an Environmental Programs Specialist now for some time, recently involved in starting up their new hazardous waste facility. John was a passionate dog lover!!!  His first dog was a German Shepherd named Caesar. Then came Tasha who was a mix with some Lab and Chow in her. His last dog was Timber a mix of German Shepherd, Malamute, and who knows what else. They all loved to go hiking and camping with John! He spoiled them all with lots of love and attention. John was a dog's best friend! John also loved his first car! He just had to get that 1980 Camaro Z-28, yellow with red striping and T-tops. He blew out the engine twice on it, while 'enjoying the ride'! John was a huge Steelers fan! Football was the only sport he watched avidly. Every Sunday he and mom would go through the line-up to pick their winners. He played golf with his family and friends, especially when visiting with his dad. He was on a swim team growing up and continued to enjoy the water, whether it was jumping in his sister's pool or kneeboarding with his friends on the lake. He had no kids of his own. But his niece, Vivian, and nephew, Brandon, thought he was the coolest uncle and always enjoyed their time together.    John, Margie and Sharon will always be the three amigos, toasting with margaritas. No matter where they were in life they always had each other. Along with their parents their hearts will forever remain connected with deep love.  Lets simply share our good times to show John how much we love him and will miss him. John aspired to make us laugh and have fun with him. So we should keep this legacy going!
