Light a Candle
All these 26 years you were such a very good friend. You were one of the most exemplary men in my life. I know that so many will miss you and your spontaneous and quirky wit that made you the 'Will Rogers of the 21st century'. You inspired me to go on through life's many pitfalls as I hope I was able to do for you also. No one will ever replace you in my heart. You will never be forgotten, nor will I ever stop using your wisdom to continue guiding me through life. When you last reached out and I answered, you still seemed as strong and optimistic as the day we first met. Lucid, humorous, strong and yet so close to the end. You are the brightest light of all, still alive in me. God bless you, my friend. We went west, young man, and had the time of our lives! I love you Walt....fly on proud bird, you are free at last!
I feel blessed to have known your sweet, funny, caring soul for 38 years. You will be missed in this life but always remembered in my heart. Peace my friend.
Mon cher frère,
Tu m'a prouvé que "l'essentiel est invisible aux yeux." Tu me manques. Je souhaite que je pourrais t'étreindre. Je t'aime. xo, P.
"And when your sorrow is comforted (time soothes all sorrows) you will be content that you have known me. You will always be my friend. You will want to laugh with me. And you will sometimes open your window, so, for that pleasure... and your friends will be properly astonished to see you laughing as you look up at the sky! Then you will say to them, 'Yes, the stars always make me laugh!' And they will think you are crazy."
Antoine de Saint-Exupery
Rest in peace, Walter, with the knowledge that, in time, we will all one day be opening our windows, and looking at the stars, and they will think that we are crazy.
Rest in Peace, Walter. I am so grateful that you were surrounded by many friends in your final days. Many thanks to Bryan for keeping us posted.
"Only when you drink from the river of silence shall you indeed sing. And when you have reached the mountain top, then you shall begin to climb. And when the earth shall claim your limbs, then shall you truly dance."
