I will never forget the first day you came into my life. You came tagging along with a young lady who hjad come to see my wife. As God would have it be My waife was your mothers biological mother which made you my first grandchild. I have many pictures of you as a little boy and one in particular of you in my backyard playing baseball with your uncles Jimmy. Merritt amd Teddy. Merritt and Teddy were there that first day and you happily went with them to the apartment complex playground. There is a tree in the backyard that was just a little thing when you first came over and one day i looked at that tree and a picture of you in the backyard and realized how you and the tree had both grown so big and strong. Time came and you answered a call many of us do. You went to war and came home a changed boy to a man and the burden you brought home was great. I know it was a lot to carry as I have my own demons and I wish i could have done more to help you with yours. I sometimes feel like I let you down. You are now at peace I pray and you are a soldier of God. Rest in the arms of Jesus Chris and be in peace.
I remember talking to Chris right before he left for the military and being happy to see him after he returned. We didn't talk much about what happened over there because it was one of those things that folks don't get into, but the times we did get to talk to each other, it was one of the best times because we just talked, not so much about the hobby we were in but because he was a very nice person to talk to and the conversations was very relaxing.
