ZADROGA Barbara Irene (Basia), of Philadelphia & Key West FL, died on 12/23/20, after a valiant 5 year battle with cancer. She was 76. She was the loving & devoted Mother of Christopher, & wife of Peter McPherson. She is survived by many 1st & 2nd cousins, nieces & nephews, & many close friends. She was predeceased by her brother Thaddeus, & sisters Theresa Skoczen & Marcella Kmiec. Barbara was the daughter of Stanley, Irena, & Lucy Zadroga, all of whom she adored. She was raised in Conshohocken & Manayunk, & was extremely proud of her Polish Heritage. A prominent Antique Dealer during the 70's & 80's, she established Barter & Co., a famed Antique Shop located on Philadelphia's Historic Antique Row. Her business continued after her move to Florida. She was a lifetime advocate for stray, elderly & abandoned felines, & had adopted & cared for well over 100 cats through the years. They were always part of her family. She was a force to be reckoned with. Because of the pandemic, there will be no public services. A memorial will be held at a later date. Donations in her memory may be made to morrisanimalrefuge.org. "I had a great son & a great life" she wrote to her son Christopher. He added "I had a great Mother who gave me a great life." Her compassion, joyous spirit, & rebel heart will be truly missed.
