#2 Memories of Papa TonyPaul Ting 2021-05-04 16:01
When we were growing up in the Philippines, I always looked forward to Sundays. This was due to Papa always taking us to watch a movie or when school was about to start, he would take us to buy our school bags and shoes then after we would eat. We usually go to Lido or Tony’s Restaurant, after that we go home if it is still early he would go out again to see his friends.

When my dad came to the States he had to work odd jobs then finally landed with Hewlett Packard. Even then he would work 2 jobs, which really shows that he was a very industrious person. I would remember every Sunday either the whole apartment, you could hear chinese music or he would take whoever is not working to the streets of San Francisco, One of my dad’s hobbies was tending to his fish. When we bought the house the whole garage was an aquarium. Unfortunately he had to stop his hobby due to his health deteriorating and nobody could really continue with his hobby.

These are the things that I remember about my dad.

Then as he grew older, he started to grow weaker and become more sickly. Because of the pandemic and since I was the only one home, I took care of him. I would feed him, change his diaper, and help him out and into his bed. It would be the same thing over and over again. My son and husband would help me when he would fall out of his bed and watch him while I was at work.

#1 Thank you Papa TonyPaul Ting 2021-05-04 04:14
We celebrate my Dad's life.
My Dad was never the lovey dovey type of guy. He was a straight forward kind of guy!!! That has taught me how to become a good father to my own kids and the person I am now. He didn't use words to teach me but used life experiences and consequences of my choices. With that I thank you Dad!!!
Rest well.
Love Always,
Paul Anthony
