Sallie was the thirteenth child born to this union. Her early childhood was spent in the Fortune Fork community where her family lived as sharecroppers. A Time To Build: Sallie was baptized at an early age and became a member of the St. Paul M.B. Church. Later she joined the Old Mt. Zion M.B. Church, where she served as an usher. Due to the burning of the Old Mt. Zion, Sallie joined the Mt. Cellar Baptist Church where she remained a faithful member until her passing. A Time To Labor: Sallie was a devoted homemaker; with much hard work and sacrifice Sallie and her husband Dennis were able to buy a small farm at Thomastown. With continued hard work and dedication in 1948 they became owners of their own business, Watson’s Grocery. Later in 1957, they built a small hotel known as Hotel Watson. A Time To Sow: Sallie was united in holy matrimony to Dennis Watson (Deceased) from this union four children were born. One preceded them in death. Her children Lonnie (Annie) of Cleburne, TX, Vera Davis, and Geraldine Shears of Tallulah, LA has brought her abundance of pride and joy.
