Light a Candle
Rita was *originally* from St. Louis, MO. Her parents and siblings preceded her in death, as did her husband, Walter. She moved to various locations due to her husband's work, eventually staying in Virginia. She died from complications of Covid-19 in a nursing home. The nursing home had been her home since 2014, due to her Alzheimer's. She is survived by four children, Michael, Susan, Patricia and Daniel, and their spouses/partners, as well as various grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She was outspoken, courageous, creative and spiritual. She had a potty mouth like a sailor. She dealt with anxiety, depression no doubt, and personal demons like anyone else, and while I'd love to say she did it with grace, I'm more inclined to say she handled fire with fire. She was more important than she will ever know, leaving her mark in our hearts. -AK
