Memorial Biography

Rachel Laverne Conrad, 83, made her transition on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at The Grove nursing home in North Huntington PA. Born in Mckeesport PA on April 8, 1937 she was the daughter of the late Joseph L and Molly Weiss Gonzales. Wife of the late Harry B Hobson and late Harry Addison Conrad Jr. She is survived by her three sons Jeffrey ,Harry(Iris Nelson-Hobson) and Bernard ,grandchildren Harry ,Julian , Rachelle , Jose ,Santana ,Solana Solena and Sol. Great grandchildren Chico ,Giada ,Amora, Caden ,Layla , Chance , Anylee and Josephina. She was preceded in passing By her sisters Rosalie Hansen ,Mariam Diggs ,Esther Micklo as well as brother Joseph Gonzales Jr. She is survived by her sisters Sylvia Hannen, Doris Amatuzzi , Linda Micklo brothers David ,Howard Albert ,and Carl Gonzales. Rachel was a person full of love and life with a heart as big as any she strived to make the world around her a better place for all. She spent the majority of her career working at Housing Opportunities and The Center for Victims of Violent Crimes as well as sitting on many boards aimed at helping those in need. Her long time involvement in Mckeesport politics as a Democratic committee member as well as a neighborhood block watch organizer were just some of the ways she tried to help better the community. Through her years she was able to touch the lives of so many which is evidenced by the countless stories of her helping to make the sun shine brighter for those around her. Her love of the Lord stood out in her conversation and more importantly in the way that she lived her life. Her constant smile ,great advice and abundance of faith and love of life will surely be missed by all those that knew her. The arrangements for funeral proceedings are as follows: Visitations will be held Mon., January 4, 2021 from 2-5 at the Hunter Funeral Home located at: 1600 Coursin St. McKeesport PA 15132 - Service will be held in the funeral home on Monday at 4:30 PM Interment will take place on: January 5, 2021 at 11 AM at Penn Lincoln Memorial Park - anyone wishing to attend the ceremonies on Tuesday is asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:45.
