Mary Louise Blake “Mary Lou” (Age 85) Mary Lou Blake died peacefully on March 18, 2020 after a brief stay at Transitions Life Care hospice in Raleigh, NC. Mary Lou was born on August 23, 1934 and raised in Bucks County, PA, after which she lived for a brief time in Washington, DC. After marrying her husband Ted in 1958, she settled in Yonkers, NY where Mary Lou and Ted raised their two sons Joe and Chris. Mary Lou moved to Raleigh, NC in 2014 where she was able to continue to live independently and be close to family. Prior to her retirement in 1998, Mary Lou worked as an aviation insurance broker for Frank B Hall in New York. Mary Lou was an avid sports fan, something that came with the territory of raising two sons. Jeopardy has also lost one of its most dedicated viewers, a devotion Mary Lou maintained after being a 3-day contestant on the show in New York in 1968. Mary Lou was passionately devoted to her family and extended family, particularly her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mary Lou is survived by her two sons Joe (Dee) of East Meadow, NY and Chris (Kristy) of Raleigh, NC, grandchildren Nora Blake of Brooklyn, NY, Dan Nevins of New Berlin NY, Tim Nevins of East Meadow NY, Lauren Newman (James) of Mount Pleasant, SC, and Kelly Hobson (Hunter) of Raleigh, NC, and great grandchildren Gard Hobson, Blake Newman and Maxine Hobson. Mary Lou is also survived by a brother, two sisters, and an extended family who all have fond memories of their “Aunt Mimi.” A celebration of Mary Lou’s life will be scheduled with family later this year.
