Memorial Biography

Joyce A. MacDonald (Myers), 86, passed away on June 22, 2021, in Atlanta, Georgia. She was born February 27, 1935 in Waterloo, IA to John and Hazel Dawn (Knapp) Myers. Her family moved to the Cheyenne Mountain area, Colorado Springs in 1946. Her parents owned and ran a local grocery store, Myers Grocery and Market. Joyce went to Cheyenne Mountain Jr/Sr High School, graduating in 1953. She then continued her education at Colorado A&M College/CSU for a couple of years before she was married and started a family. She was a stay-at-home mom for some years, managing a working cattle ranch, and eventually joined back into the workforce. She retired from the Government in 1997. Joyce was a loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and a great-great grandmother. Joyce was a great cook and enjoyed making pumpkin pies on the holidays. She loved gardening, playing the piano and even more so, loved eating Oreo cookies. However, her greatest enjoyment was being with her children and grandchildren. Watching them grow up, attending their school activities and just being a grandmother, maybe spoiling them along the way. Joyce is survived by her brother Robert Myers (Jeanette), daughter Mary Brewer, daughter Barbra Willis, son Bill MacDonald (Judy), son Ken MacDonald (Sandy), daughter Laurie Smith (Steve), 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her brother Dean Myers and her parents.
