Glen Gilbert Cooper lived for 105 years, and made the most of every one of them. He was born in Fruitport, Michigan to Bessie and Fred Cooper on February 2, 1915, and passed away on May 11, 2020 in Baldwin, Michigan. On February 23, 1934, he made Mamie Bryan his bride. Mamie passed away on March 3, 2008 from complications caused by Alzheimer's Disease. Together, Glen and Mamie raised, and are survived by three children: Wayne (and Peggy), Glenda Schroeder, and Clive (and Laurel). Glen is also survived by 8 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren! Glen served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy. A lifetime resident of Michigan, Glen loved spending time with friends and family outdoors, whether it was canoeing, fishing, hunting, or gardening. Also a talented craftsman and mechanic, Glen taught his sons many skills like brick laying, construction, auto mechanics, and much more. In 1979, Glen retired from Alloytek in Allendale, MI, allowing him and Mamie to spend many happy years living on a small lake in Baldwin Michigan. Well into his 90's, Glen taught basket weaving and chair caning. And of course, he helped out with maintenance at the Senior Center in Baldwin Michigan. As a young man, Glen enjoyed visiting and playing cards with friends, which he continued to do until Grand Oaks Nursing Home had to implement the quarantine due to Covid 19. The world is a better place because of Glen Cooper. His quick smile and warm heart will always be remembered and deeply missed. Grandma, you are finally reunited with "your man"! Give him a big hug for us. A celebration of life memorial will be scheduled at a later date due to Covid19. If you wish to recognize Glen Cooper's legacy, please donate to the Alzheimer's Association.
