Memorial Biography

Elinor (Ellie) Mary Woodhouse 89 of Clarksburg, WV passed away peacefully on September 16th, 2022 at age 89, after battling dementia. Ellie was born on November 17th, 1932 to Frank Large and Lillie Warner in Camden, NJ. Ellie had three half-siblings. She is preceded by two half-sisters Patrica Tomlin and Judy Rogers. Ellie is survived by half-brother Robert Large. Ellie was preceded by her first husband, Clement A. Larcombe, and survived by their five children; Cathy Schnieder and husband Skip, Joyce Pollin, Ruth Hausvater and husband Harvey, David Larcombe and wife Debbie, Amy Dudley and husband David, and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; preceded by her 2nd husband S. Mike Forster, and stepdaughter Debbie Forster, survived by her step-son Mike Forster; preceded by her 3rd husband and survived by his two daughters. Independent, strong, active in the church, and resourceful she used her creativeness and her talent for sewing, to make clothes and Christmas gifts for her children. She also sewed three of the five bridesmaids' dresses for her youngest daughter's wedding. Ellie had a beautiful singing voice and sang in church choirs, singing solos, and special events including some of her children’s weddings. Ellie traveled all across the country and even to Germany and Austria. She made friends everywhere she went and maintained those friendships for life. Ellie was celebrated during her 80th surprise birthday party with family and friends from all over the country. That was one of many highlights of her life. Ellie was the first woman president of the Printer’s Association in New Jersey. She was a Pioneer Girls leader for many years. She taught Gleanors Club and Sunday School and held several other positions in various churches throughout her life. She often looked after others by serving meals, and crocheting blankets, and was a Welcome Wagon Hostess in New Jersey. Ellie enjoyed entertaining and often hosted dinners for family gatherings, friends, military men, and often those who were homeless or in need of a good homemade meal. She impacted many through her singing, teaching, and hospitality.
