Memorial Biography

Dudley O. Van Buren of Conroe, TX, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, church pastor and attorney passed away on January 9, 2015. He went to his rest confident in the resurrection at the second coming of our Lord and Savior he served so faithfully in his life. Dudley was born in Monticello, Indiana on October 14, 1920. He served in the US Army Air Corp during WWII and achieved the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. Not long after his military service ended, he met his beautiful Emma. Dudley asked Emma to marry him on their second date. They married three weeks later. He worked as a building contractor until a back injury made it impossible to continue this line of work. Along the way, he built churches, wrote poetry, wrote songs that enjoyed some success in some radio markets of the Northeast. He eventually, with the efforts and strong support of Emma, returned to college and completed his undergraduate degree, then his JD degree from graduate school, passed the Texas Bar Exam and started a law office. He practiced law in Conroe, TX. One judge in Conroe stated that “D.O. was the most honest attorney he knew!” He leaves behind his beloved wife, Emma, his son Stephen, daughter Gayle, and son Paul; Ten grandchildren; Jamie, Stephen, Drew, Brent, Greg, Seth, Eric, Melinda, Heidi and Gary and twelve great grandchildren.
