Memorial Biography

David Hang Croteau was born in Zhengzhou, China on 15 July 1991 and lived a typical Chinese elementary school live, guided by his mother. At an early age he became interested in computer gaming, and this occupied much of his time. I, David's adopted stepfather, (Phillip Croteau) went to China, to meet him and his mother, Ping Ding in February 2002. We were married in China, and it took nearly two years to process their immigration papers permitting them to enter America. They arrived in San Francisco in late 2003, where we lived for a year and a half such that David could benefit from the accelerated English language program offered in the Fremont, CA. schools. In 2004-2005, we lived in Taos, NM where David excelled in his Junior High School studies. The next year we moved to Albuquerque, NM to enroll him in Sandia High School, where he graduated from in 2009. He then started his college studies on the campus of CNM, Central New Mexico Community College. A few years later he transferred into the University of New Mexico program of Engineering. Subsequently graduating in 2017 and then he set out to seek employment opportunities in his Engineering profession. But to no avail, due to his lack of experience he could not find any available positions. Thus, he returned to the UNM campus to work on a master's degree in Computer Engineering. That is where he remained until his recent death on 22 April 2022. He will be greatly missed by his parents, family, and friends. David was a truly brilliant and gifted individual, rather shy, withdrawn and solace, but always willing to help anyone. A beautiful spirit who will be missed by all of us who knew and loved him.
