Toni Jayne (Wiltshire) Baker of New York, New York took her final journey home on the afternoon of April 12, 2012 at Southern Regional Medical Center, in , Georgia following complications after surgery. Toni Jayne was born in New York City on September 14, 1940, and those who were touched by Toni understand that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time, which one lives.
Toni attended P.S. 76 in the Bronx and Cathedral High School in New York City. After graduation, Toni worked as a legal secretary and it is there that her passion for law was born. She loved the Arts, Interior Design and Renovation and while raising three children continued her education by achieving a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree in Law.
Her smile and vivacious manner was infectious to those around her. Although, in the last eight years, Toni's journey made her appear frail, she possessed strength, perseverance and an ability to overcome incredible odds and physical challenges. She suffered a brain aneurism in 2004 while in Atlanta and had remained there under the care of her daughter.
A most recent challenge, was the loss of her 17 year old granddaughter on January 3, 2012 and as Toni takes her own final journey, she joins her beloved granddaughter, Lauren M. Jones in Heaven.
Toni will be remembered for her clever and unique ability to turn her favorite hobbies and pastimes into part time work. Her life is one to be celebrated and she will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her and were privileged to live in her presence.
Toni leaves behind many wonderful caregivers at the Hope of Glory Personal Care Home, that provided love and support that enhanced her quality of life.
Toni is survived by her three loving children Meryl M. and husband Dale Jones, Karlyn S. and husband Obed Ford and Amani D. Murphy and wife Jocelyn; sister Lyn C. Wiltshire and brother Harcourt A. Wiltshire; ten grandchildren, Diana M., Stephanie E., Rufusia, Khalil R., Michael, Kiana S., Karl A., Qadeera, Amani Jordan and Amani, Jr.; four nieces and nephews, Shawn A., Hashanah D., Shadanah R., and Erilyn T.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Tuesday, April 17, 2012, 12p at 759 Hennepin Terrace, McDonough, GA 30253
