by Laura Caldwell:
Grandpa passed into the arms of Jesus at 9:32 this evening, Colorado time. He went peacefully, and I was so blessed to be here with Mom and Sarah. We were all holding his hands when he went. Jesus is our hope and the resurrection and the life. Love you all.

Born by a farm in the heart of Ohio
Raised with the corn and the cows
Learned how to garden and learned how to live in a small and remote country town
He learned about the Lord
Who he'd love all his life
Then he moved away to pursue Him
While in New York, he met his wife
They went on to raise six children
They followed their faith into the Congo
Spread the gospel to the world
They made ripples where they traveled
And they trusted in His word
Together they served and they worshiped and prayed
Generations were blessed by the prayers that they raised.
14 grandchildren later, and after having lost 3 children.
Still full of hope, and praise, and purpose
The living God was within them.
Charlotte was called home to heaven
So Howard moved to Colorado
Surrounded by family and beautiful mountains
The Lord continued to be his cup and his portion.
Though he still enjoyed blueberries
puzzles..
ice cream...
Jeopardy…
and Wheel of Fortune.
Howard was humble. He was simple and faithful.
He was loyal to his family, to his colleagues, and his Savior.
For 98 years, he endowed this world
But at last he's home in heaven with Jesus and his girls.
My sister Jess truly has a way with words. Last night my 98 1/2 grandfather went home to be with God, his wife, and children. Thankful for such an amazing grandfather to look up to - he is my hero.
At the Caldwell's home Dad gave himself the job of clearing the table after dinner. He was always the first one finished and after his place was cleared he would HOVER over everyone else - waiting - waiting - WAITING! "Are you finished?" "What are you waiting for?" "Don't we watch something on TV now?"
I (Beth) made it a point to take my time! Dad would get more and more nervous. One time I left just one green pea on my plate. It was just TOO funny - teasing dad was a blast! I miss him - now I have to clear my own spot!
