#1We Will Miss You Julio —

Julio was a dear family member who despite his many challenges and obstacles continued to have a thirst for life and never hesitated to show a smile. We bonded over our love for fitness and sports. He was a avid boxing fan and we always could have a good conversation about Muhammad Ali or Roberto Duran. For Christmas I bought him boxing T shirts and he always glowed when he opened his presents.
I knew him to be fearless and carry the heart of a warrior. I was convinced he could run into a burning building and rescue anyone, especially my wife whom he adored. A few years ago I started running long distance races. I thought of his warrior spirit when I needed to tap into the mental endurance a successful long distance runner needed when you feel tired and uncomfortable or remain consistent with an arduous training regime.
Julio and I always greeted each other with a yell, “It’s show time!” We would exaggerate it like the sports announcer celebrates a goal in a soccer match. This was our code for being relentless, triumphant and relishing the glory that comes with victory.
