#2 The time we ate sugarGloria 2018-08-15 00:56
This memory just came to mind- I can't imagine we could have been very old because we could both fit under the sink in the bathroom... we stole the sugar dish and sat under the sink eating right from the dish. It wasn't as great as we had expected and both got pretty icky stomach aches...

#1 For ValKevin 2018-08-14 10:43
My sister Val has always been such a uniquely strong and beautiful person with such a radiant personality that was so refreshing and energizing to be around. She always had this irreverent, mischevious sense of humor and when she smiled it lit up her whole face and you couldn't help but smile with her. When she laughed it was loud and boisterous and uncontained and came from deep within her soul and it brought so much joy to hear. Val was always ready to laugh, she was just so full of fun and she was so clever and funny she was always making us laugh too. She was always goofing around and you never knew when she might suddenly make a ridiculous face or say something silly to make you smile.
Val was fearless most of the time, so she was direct and honest when other people might be more reserved or hold back how they truly feel. There was never anything artificial or superficial about her, when you saw or talked to her you were always getting the real Val. Her passion and enthusiasm and empathy and compassion were so sincere that she effortlessly brought those things out in the people around her.
She had a relentlessly sunny attitude about life and would always try to find the silver lining in a situation. She always had so much heart and was so generous and loved people genuinely and unconditionally in a way that's really rare and special. People knew that and recognized that in her and they responded to it. She brightened every place she spent time in.
As a mother she loved her children so fiercely and completely. It was so important to her that their childhood be full of magic and imagination and a sense of wonder. For instance there was a tree in their yard with what might have been mistaken for a squirrel hole at the bottom of the trunk except that when you looked closely you would see that there was a tiny door there. The kids excitedly explained to me that it was a fairy door, and every now and then when they opened the door there would be a note or a ring or a trinket for them to find.
As much as I know Val would wish with all her heart to be with us in person right now she is absolutely here with us in spirit, she brought us all together here with our memories of her full of love and laughter. Maybe we can take some small comfort in the fact that she went peacefully in her sleep, and though she is gone far too young and too soon we were so lucky and blessed to have had the time with her that we did.
You are so loved and appreciated Valerie, and you'll always be with us. You hold such a special place in so many hearts that you'll never actually be gone.
I love you so much Val
