It's impossible to put in words how much everyone loved Mrs. Garcia-Mata.
You gave me so much confidence at a young age. I remember one time you asked for my permission to read one of my essays to your other classes. Prior to that moment, I didn't believe I was good at anything, especially writing. It's because of you that I believed in myself enough to join Newspaper where I met a lot of amazing people. There's no doubt that my life has been on a positive trajectory since that moment.
So many kids have been impacted by your kindness and generosity.
It's hard to imagine Akins without Mrs. Garcia-Mata.
The birthday card she wrote me is in today's mail. And I say this to affirm to you that her thoughtfulness endures She encouraged the best and the most hopeful parts of us. May her spirit and example always remain essential to what we do.
Thank you Mrs. Garcia Mata for the constant uplifting encouragement, for ALL the AVID tools, and for believing in students every day.
Christina, you were always a bright ray of sunshine, especially when you smiled, and you were almost always smiling. You always exuded such positive energy and love, and you always had a kind word for everyone. I'll miss you.

Your passion for life and love and respect for nature and humanity will always be remembered. I will miss our “Hey Tocaya” we shared when we would run into each other in the hallway. Thanks for the lessons shared with my daughter, Krystal. You had a huge impact on her and so many of her friends 11+ years ago. Wish we could have spent more time together as co-workers. It was not meant to be. You will be missed by many. Rest Easy Tocaya. Wings up!

Mrs.Garcia-mata Had a smile that could say a thousand words of comfort. A true angel walking on earth and now an angel forever. I cannot find the right words to say how blessed we all were to have someone like you touch our lives. I was honored to know she mentored me and my older sisters in our high school years. A soul that could bring out peace and love in the room with a simple smile no matter the differences! The most kind and most caring, a 2nd mother to us all. I cannot thank you enough for the amount of love and mentoring you offered me. Genuinely the best advice I ever received when I was trying to figure it all out. A person who really cared enough to take a “how are you ?” And really make the time to hear you out and remind you to smile even when it was hard. You will be loved and forever missed. Thank you for being you! My thoughts and prayers are with Mr. mata and baby boy.
A real one gone too soon, God bless her kind unforgettable soul.
Can't believe your gone. Best teacher I ever had. She had that personality that you just wanted to pour your heart out to. She kept me straight at school, helped me if I needed any. Supported me in my future goals. Kept in touch even after graduation to make sure we were all ok. I wish I had contacted her more often. She will he missed by all who got the chance to meet her.
