Light a Candle
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Richard Walton Swartz announces his passing on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at the age of 76 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Vernie Frederick Swartz, Sr. and June Evelyn Mayhall Swartz, brother, Vernie Frederick Swartz, Jr. (Fred), brother, Ronald Eugene Swartz, and sister, Margaret Jeanette Swartz. He is survived by his loving wife Carol Swartz of Flour Bluff, Texas sister, Geneva Ann Parker of Lubbock, Texas, daughter, Melissa Faye Reiger and her husband Kevin Reiger of Kingsbury, Texas, Son, Richard Walton Swartz of Blythe California, son Rusty Wayne Swartz and wife Ryan Swartz, of Austin, Texas and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a brave Marine having served in Viet Nam. He went to work for the Texas Highway Department where he later retired. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing pool, working on his cars, camping and fishing, and spending time at the beach. His greatest joy came from his family and animals. Richard was an incredible person with a huge heart filled with love for his wife and family and he will be missed more than words can express. Services will be announced in the coming days. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Richard’s life.
